Farthings Funeral Service have teamed up with local coffee shop Cuppa on High Road West, Felixstowe, to host a bereavement coffee morning. What started on the 1st of March and will continue the first Wednesday of every month, these coffee mornings are for anyone who may have experienced a bereavement who would like to meet up with others who have experienced something similar in a friendly and relaxed environment. Talking about your bereavement experience is personal choice.
Senior Funeral Arranger Samantha Barksby set up the group after arranging the funeral for a gentleman whose wife she cared for.
“ The idea for the group came about because of a lovely man whom I met whilst caring for his late wife.
I would see him sitting outside a coffee shop just to chat with passers-by as he sometimes felt lonely, and a little interaction was better than none! Whilst chatting one day I introduced him to another person I knew and from then they met every Tuesday for coffee and became friends.
Many people become isolated and experience loneliness following a bereavement and we want the community to know that there are people out there who want to listen and connect with you.”
Cuppa also have a lending library which Samantha is hoping to add to with books around bereavement and coping with grief.
Complimentary light refreshments are provided.
