The Trimley villages held an Open Gardens weekend at the end of June, and we were pleased to support their efforts to raise money for the Trimley Churches by printing the programmes.
It was obvious that a lot of preparation had gone into the event, the gardens looking immaculate, but still offering hope to ordinary gardeners – some were described as being in ‘ongoing development’ or having ‘an area of reclamation’.
There were 20 gardens to visit, and several venues along the route were offering lunches, barbecues or cream teas, some also had play areas for younger visitors. Although the weather could have been kinder, with several heavy downpours between sightings of the sun, the event was still a financial success. Not only that, there was a lot of fun and laughter, and a lot of information and plants were traded between keen and novice gardeners.
